History & Families of Boone County, Arkansas Volume IIFollowing hundreds of submissions and over two years of work by a volunteer staff, the new History & Families of Boone County, Arkansas Volume II book has been published and is now available at the Boone County Heritage Museum.

"Nearly all the books ordered for presale have been mailed," said Norman Rowe, former president of the Boone County Historical and Railroad Society. "We've mailed somewhere around 220 books, but we still have quite a few books reserved that people said they will pick up."

The latest family history book is the second such publication by the society. In 1998, the Boone County Historical and Railroad Society published the History of Boone County, Arkansas with a narrative by Roger V. Logan, Jr.

Efforts for this latest book began in 2006 when book chairperson Marilyn Breece and other officials with the Boone County Historical & Railroad Society mailed about 15,000 fliers to Boone County residents asking for their stories. Submission forms were also made available to visitors at the museum, and through the society's website.
The response was overwhelming. Over 400 submissions were received from over 20 states all across the country.
Published by Acclaim Press, History & Families of Boone County, Arkansas Volume II contains 320 pages of pictures, people and area history. The book includes sections on the history of Boone County, pictorial memories, patrons' pages, family histories and an index.
According to Rowe, the museum currently has about 250 of the new history books in stock. The price is $59.95, plus $6.00 shipping and handling if mailed.
