Family history book booming
November 15, 2006
Marilyn BreeceThe Boone County Historical and Railroad Society is swamped with the flow of family histories being sent in for Volume II of the Boone County, Arkansas Family History Book, which the historical society is compiling and publishing.

Mail has come in from 20 states and all across the country for this second of its kind family history book. With the final deadline drawing near, many families have been sending in their family histories, and the society expects even more to rush in as the deadline nears.

There is no charge to record your family's history, and it doesn't matter if your family lived here two weeks or 50 years in order to participate.

Marilyn Breece, chairperson of the project, continues to urge all present and former Boone Countians to contribute to this project. Breece said, "I would encourage everyone to turn in their information as soon as possible, since we have not received a notice as to a deadline extension."

She continued, "Examples of how and what to write can be found in the brochure that was recently mailed to over 15,000 Boone County homes, or you can look at the first volume, shelved in the Genealogy Room of the Boone County Library and also the Boone County Heritage Museum. Entries may contain 500 words and one photograph free of charge.
"Pre-publishing orders can also be placed at a price of $49.95, saving almost $20 since the expected price after publication may be $65.
"Churches, businesses and organizations are also encouraged to submit their entry for this important book. These paid histories, memorial and tribute pages round out the history of the county, and space is still available."
Additional brochures are available online and at the Boone County Heritage Museum, located at the corner of South Cherry Street and Central Avenue. For more information, phone 741-3312.
EDITORS NOTE: The new extended deadline for submitting you family history for publication in this book is MARCH 31, 2007. Don't be late - send in your family history today!
