Acclaim Press publisher Doug Sikes (left), Boone County Historical Society president Norman Rowe (center) and Les Thurman, bulk mail clerk at the Harrison Post Office, prepare fliers to be mailed out to Boone County residents.

People in Boone County should receive something in the mail today that could mean a lot for history buffs.
Officials with the Boone County Historical Society mailed about 15,000 fliers to Boone County residents asking for their stories.
The Historical Society is planning to publish volume two of the History of Boone County with information from the early 1800s to the present. And with a Nov. 18 deadline looming, they are hoping people will put together their own family history, along with a photograph, to be included in that book.
The flier says the book will be about 200-300 pages, so they will be seeking history of as many people in Boone County as possible, but they are asking those entries be limited to no more than 500 words.
In fact, the publishing company will charge 15 cents per word after 500.
Copies of the book will be for sale prior to printing, with money held in escrow until the book hits the street, and only a limited number of books will be printed.
Postal officials had planned to see those fliers delivered today.
