1912-2012: Time Capsule!

Published on May 15, 2012 by in News

Artifacts contained in a 100 year old time capsule are now on display at the Boone County Heritage Museum in Harrison, Arkansas.  The time capsule was removed this week from the cornerstone of the former school building which houses the museum.  Director Toinette Madison says her research has turned up many instances of damaged items when time capsules are opened, but in this case, the contents are in pristine condition…

Madison says a surprising number of documents were removed from the copper box, including records of local churches, civic organizations, and a local newspaper dated April 27, 1912.  The Boone County Heritage Museum now owns the 100 year old former school building which has housed its artifacts for the past 25 years.  The deed was presented this week by the Harrison School District.
